Spartans Head Into Week 2, Putting Their 50-0 Record on The Line Against The Sixth Ranked Denver Bandits

The Texas Elite Spartans made a formidable statement in their 2024 WNFC season opener, delivering a masterclass in football with a resounding 48-0 victory over the Kansas City Glory. Despite the extensive roster changes in the offseason, the Spartans demonstrated why they are considered one of the powerhouses of the league, excelling in every aspect of the game.

Game Recap

The matchup was highly anticipated, given the history between the two teams and their significant roster changes. The Spartans, despite losing key players, showed no signs of weakness, going deep on the bench to overpower the Glory.

Under the direction of quarterback Satoria Bell, who threw for 116 yards and a touchdown, the Spartans' offense amassed just under 300 yards of total offense and scored 4 TDs. Bell's showed that she could connect with what some believe is the best wide receiver duo to every play the game in Liz Landry and Maria Jackson, who led the team receiving yards. The dynamic rushing duo of Tara "Turbo" Thomas and Kahriya Williams, complemented by the power running of fullback Destanie Yarbrough, overwhelmed the Glory's defense. The running game was dominant, with each back finding the end zone.

The Spartans' defense was equally impressive, spearheaded by linebacker Allyssa Weatherd,

defensive tackle Lilo Fruean, and the legendary defensive end Olivia Griswold. Their relentless pressure resulted in five turnovers, including the Spartans first pick 9 of the year by safety/team captain Jewelle Grimsley. The Elite defense made quick work of stifling any attempt by the Glory to gain momentum.

Looking Ahead to Week 2: Family Fun Night!

The victory sets a high bar for the Spartans as they head into Week 2, where they will face the Denver Bandits. The Bandits, buoyed by their star player Amber Craft, 2023's WNFC Defensive Player of the Year, will be looking to challenge the Spartans' high flying offense.

Saturday Night's game at Max Goldsmith Stadium in Lewisville promises not just top-tier football action but also a family-friendly atmosphere. Themed "Family Fun Night," the event will offer various activities, including a Football Toss, foam Axe Throwing, Giant Jenga, tic tac toe, Mini Cornhole, and an opportunity to take pictures with Spartaaa, ensuring an enjoyable experience for fans of all ages.

The Texas Elite Spartans have once again demonstrated their championship pedigree, setting the tone for what promises to be another thrilling season in the WNFC. With their blend of veteran leadership and emerging talent, the Spartans are a team to watch as they aim to maintain their elite status in the league.
